Pro-Football Players' Wives Join the National Breast Cancer Foundation's Push to Save Lives
FRISCO, Texas - October 27, 2008 - Off the Field Players Wives Association (OTF) joins National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. (NBCF) to help save the lives of women by increasing the awareness of early detection of breast cancer. Janelle Hail, CEO and Founder of NBCF, states, "Early detection of breast cancer saved my life 28 years ago. That's why I believe it is so important to remind women to create an Early Detection Plan. By partnering with OTF, NBCF will be able to promote the Early Detection Plan to a wider audience and save even more lives."
Breast cancer is one of the leading health crises for women in the United States. According to The National Cancer Institute, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with the disease in her lifetime. Though breast cancer affects so many lives, it does not have to be deadly. The early detection of breast cancer can increase a woman's survival rate by 98%.
Following an early detection plan is the best way to detect the disease early. Unfortunately, many women simply forget or do not understand the importance of early detection. NBCF recently created an interactive tool to help remind women to use the foundational early detection methods; breast self - exams, clinical breast exams, and mammograms. Based on age and risk profile, NBCF's Early Detection Plan provides women with a flexible reminder system using email notifications, calendar integrations, and text messages.
OTF will play a vital role in the campaign to promote NBCF's Early Detection Plan by providing public service announcements, press conferences, television and radio appearances, and web support on NBCF's online community. By partnering with OTF, NBCF will be able to further spread the message concerning the importance of early detection and save the lives of countless women.
